Forest path at Fisher Oak Savanna.

This Dedicated Indiana State Nature Preserve encompasses 220 acres of black oak savanna dune ridges, pin oak flatwoods, wetlands, prairie and wooded areas.  NICHES (— link to (www.nicheslandtrust.org/properties/) and Spence Nursery (— link to (www.spencenursery.com/Index/home.php) have partnered to restore this preserve to its previous natural state.

The property provides 2 miles of hiking trails in two different loops for your exploration.  Informational signs and literature provide insight to the restoration process, including the use of periodic controlled burns of the prairielands.

A special treat usually in late July is the orange fringed orchid (Platanthera cillaris).
